Okwala man allegedly decapitates brother
COMMUNITY members of Okwala village, Central Kwara’ae, Malaita are still in shock and dismay over a grisly incident that occurred at their community on Monday morning.
A man in his late 20s reportedly beheaded his elder brother following a dispute.
The elder brother (deceased) has six children.
Auki police responded swiftly after receiving an emergency call from Member of Parliament for Central Kwara’ae Jackson Fiulaua, who is originally from that village.
Malaita police commander Alfred Uiga confirmed that his officers were deployed early in the morning and arrested the suspect.
“My officers were sent to Okwala village and took in the suspect who willingly gave himself up to police,” Mr Uiga told the Solomon Star office in Auki.
He said the motive behind the killing is still unknown as police have just commenced investigations.
Meanwhile in another senseless attack, an east Kwara’ae man from Faubulu village had had one of his legs chopped off by his cousin brother.
The victim allegedly burnt down his cousin’s three-bedroom house and fled into the jungle on Saturday.
Eye witnesses claimed that when villagers rushed to put off the fire, he grabbed a bush knife and chased them away.
The eye-witnesses said when he returned yesterday with the intention to torch more properties; his cousin brother attacked him and allegedly chopped his leg off.
Villagers believed the man was demonically possessed as he often threatened villagers.
Malaita police commander Alfred Uiga said police officers were deployed yesterday but were yet to compile a formal report.
Yesterday, the large agriculture office building in Auki was also torched.
Mr Uiga said police have opened investigations and will left no stone unturned to ensure those involved in those ‘senseless’ incidents face the full force of law.
He appealed to witnesses and those with information in relation to the three incidents to help police.
