A GUADALCANAL MP has assisted a community in north Malaita to build their church.
North Guadalcanal MP Martin Sopaghe donated 30 sheets of roofing irons to Fo’ondo Assemblies of God church early this week.
Church rep Rev David Ilikona said their prays have been answered.
“We thank Sopaghe for his kindness,” Rev Ilikona said.
It’s not clear whether the funds to purchase the roofing irons were from Mr Sopaghe’s pocket or drawn from his constituency funds.
However, Rev Ilikona said they were happy that an MP from a different constituency found it fit to assist them meet their need.
Meanwhile, Rogavolo village in north Guadalcanal also took delivery of 42 sheets of roofing irons for its kindergarten.
Community rep Jimmy Longa said that the kindergarten was an initiative from women of the community.
“This is an important project for our community,” Mr Longa said.
“It addresses one of our needs to have a school for our children within the community.”
Funds for the purchase of the roofing irons were sourced from North Guadalcanal Constituency funds.
Constituency Project Officer (CPO) Ray Hesao said churches, clinics, and schools are priority funding areas for the constituency.
“This is because they benefit everyone in the community,” Mr Hesao said.
