FOUR men have been remanded in custody on Tuesday afternoon in relation to the gun threat at Taba’a Bridge at Matakwalao, North Malaita,last week.
Iki Olomea, Leonard Ofaka, Bredley Abarai and Jimmy Eno Bana are jointly charged with one count of possession of firearm and threatening violence.
This was in relation to an incident on 21 July at the Taba’a Bridge at Matakwalao where the four accused threatened the workers of the Dalgro Construction Company.
Workers of the Dalgro Construction Company that won the bid for Bridge Construction were working on the bridge when the men allegedly came and threatened them.
Prosecution alleged the men were under the influence of liquor at that time.
It was alleged that one of the men who hold the gun which is a 303 rifle black in colour put in a bullet and then cocked the gun pointing it at the workers.
The workers left the site during the incident.
Police arrested the four last weekend with the help of the communities and chiefs of Loina and Taba’a.
They also retrieved the weapon.
The men are yet to be legally represented.
They are due back in court on August 9.
