A West Rennell landowner has questioned the certificate of no appeal issued for Asia Pacific Investment Development (APID) by the magistrate court, claiming that similar situation happens to his case against the Mungaba Timber logging license.
Speaking to the media Richard Pautangata Hakatingisa’a revealed that a Certificate of No Appeal was initially issued to Mungaba Timber Company and later was revoked after sighting pending land cases he provided.
Therefore, Hakatingisa’a see his as a precedent, so he asked the question why APID was issued a certificate of No Appeal by the court when they have the records of many CLAC cases over the mining tenement on West Rennell.
He added the explanation given by a magistrate officer for their decision to issue a certificate to APID’s tenement portrays another bad picture on the country’s national judiciary.
