No cash retrieval after two key arrests, Auki Police confirms
POLICE have yet to recover any cash allegedly snatched from the LGZ Shop at Townground, East Honiara during the murder of the couple over the Easter.
It is now two months following the successful apprehension of the double murder key suspects Jimson Goufi and Raymond in Malaita province.
The missing cash was believed to be in thousands.
The Malaita Provincial Police Commander David Wate told this paper that Auki police have not recovered any of the stolen money after the two vital arrests were made in Malaita Province in May this year.
The two suspects were believed to have escaped with huge sums of money from the crime scene as seen on the CCTV.
“The suspects were seen on the CCTV removing hard cash from the shop into a bag before leaving the crime scene. While two the suspects were successfully apprehended, the cash they stole is nowhere to be found.
“We are yet to establish who is holding on to the cash and our investigations into establishing the whereabouts of the money is ongoing,” Mr Wate said.
The two suspects are still on trial for their alleged involvement in the case.
They denied charges laid against them when they appeared before court last week.
