Honiara Band Association (HBA) have raised SBD$12,132 during a live concert in aid of the National Referral Hospital (NRH) at Rove Police ground, West Honiara on Sunday.
About 26 bands, including dancing groups in Honiara performed live on the stage, that attracted families, friends and children to enjoy and spend for a good course.
The live concert was organized by ‘HBA for NRH’ committee to raise funds and purchase medicine for the country’s main hospital.
The committee took the initiative following the recent shortage of essential drugs experienced in the country.
Chairman of the committee, Benjamin Afuga, acknowledged the participating bands, members of the public, business houses and individuals for showing their support.
“From the bottom of our heart we thank you for coming along to support the event for a good course,” he told the crowd attending the concert.
Mr Afuga said HBA is a new association that aims to revive live bands and it is good to give back something to the need for the start.
“In this case we have made big impact to the lives of many people,” he said.
Mr Afuga said the committee was encouraged to see a lot of young groups and want to see more live performances.
He also encouraged young female musicians to set up live bands instead of using tracks.
The committee is proposing to stage another live concert this weekend.
The funds raise during the live concert will be handed over to the Prime Minister, Rick Hou.
Members of HBA, which took part in the live concert are; JAMBUCKZ, 241, Black Centipepe, Jarol Local, Cassandra Saliga, Bomb Beats, BOKZ, Appointeez, Black Wine, Nice Taste, YSFP, Rosie Delmah, Prince and Romea, Kumara Vibes, Chealsea Saliga, Beankz, Sipato, DMS, Keyz, 3 Pots, Zabana Ambassadors, Tally Bwoy, Sangahanoa, Strive Fait, Set Wan and Midnight.
