THE Honiara City Council (HCC) is appealing to people who have built illegal market stalls along roads within the city to voluntarily remove their market stalls immediately and warns that failure to comply will result in their demolition by Police and HCC Law Enforcement.
“HCC as an institution which is mandated to look after the city will not tolerate anyone building illegal stalls and will not hesitate to remove illegal market stalls along the streets and roads in the city,” the Councillor for Naha (Ward 10) and Chairman of HCC Physical Planning Division, Charles Aiwosuga said.
“It’s good for those of you who have these illegal market stalls along the streets and the roads in the city to comply with HCC Ordinances.
“Communities and people living within HCC jurisdictions must abide by the laws of HCC whether you like it or not!
“Verbal warnings have been issued to those who have market stalls at certain places in the city but it seems these fellow men and women are not listening to the authority,” Councilor Aiwosuga added.
Councilor Aiwosuga said working together to make Honiara a clean and a safe place to live is what ‘truly’ matters.
“Make Honiara City a safe and beautiful for the games and beyond. Because we are the host city, we must work together to make Honiara great again,” he added.
