THE Honiara City Council City Clerk (HCC) on Tuesday assured the Japanese government that it will spend the SBD $635,392.68 accountably and have it retired properly.
Charles Kelly Honiara City Clerk said this after the Japanese government handed over a funding support for the construction of a new Ranadi landfill administration and training centre.
Construction will kick off early December and should complete next year, 2015.
The centre will also have an information centre where students and the public who wants to learn more about solid waste management and dumpsites can visit the centre.
At the handing over ceremony yesteday Mr Kelly said HCC will record all spending of the money and will honestly retire a report to the Japanese office.
The City Clerk said HCC has been facing difficulty in constructing a centre to deal with waste management in the city.
