THE Honiara City Council (HCC) and Central Honiara Constituency (CHC) handed over a multipurpose hall proposal for the Mbokonavera School in Central Honiara to the Japanese Embassy last Thursday.
Speaking during ceremony, the Japanese Ambassador to Solomon Islands, Miwa Yoshiaki, highlighted collaboration as crucial to make dreams come to fruition.
He said collaboration in developing schools will eventually boost the learning capability of students.
“I was totally astonished by the way the school welcomed me and I am truly honoured to witness the handover of the proposal for a multipurpose hall to be built here at Mbokonavera School,” Ambassador Yoshiaki added.
Member of Parliament for Central Honiara Constituency, Alfred Efona, shared the same sentiment, highlighting that working together for the betterment of the lives of everyone is a paramount ‘culture’ expected from leading stakeholders.
MP Efona thanked Ambassador Yoshiaki for availing himself despite his very busy schedule.
“We look forward to a positive outcome from the Japanese government and its people in making sure the proposal is fulfilled,” he added.
Councilor for Mataniko Ward and Chairman of the Honiara City Council Education Division, Clement Terewauri, also thanked all stakeholders involved in the proposal for such a ‘brilliant and energetic move’ to produce the document for funding assistance.
Cr Terewauri expressed gratitude on behalf of HCC to the Japanese Embassy for responding positively to the proposal.
“I look forward to seeing a multipurpose hall at Mbokonavera School in the near future,” he added.
Mbokonavera School Principal, Agnes Te’e said it was a privilege for the school to submit the proposal.
She said the implementation of the proposal will benefit the school in terms of availing a proper venue to host graduations and social activities.
“The school will definitely have its own venue for graduation ceremonies and social interactions amongst the students.”
Central Honiara Constituency Development Officer (CDO), Keyon Ronia expressed gratitude to City Mayor, Eddie Kasute’e Siapu, for his support towards the proposal.
“I do belief this proposed multipurpose hall will soon be built and Mbokonavera School will surely be blessed with such infrastructure development,” CDO Ronia said.
Mr Ronia said CHC will always work alongside HCC and other stakeholders to make sure the development aspirations within the city are ‘substantialized.’
