THE Honiara City Council (HCC) Physical Planning Division successfully conducted a three-day training programme on Reinforced Concrete and Reinforcement Work for local building contractors.
The training, held at the Multi-Purpose Hall from Tuesday 11 February to Thursday13 February, was aimed at enhancing technical knowledge and skills in concrete construction.
Facilitated by industry experts, the programme covered essential mixing, reinforcement placement and structural integrity.
Over 30 local contractors participated, gaining theoretical insights, according to the HCC Architecture Kenneth Bulehite.
The HCC Physical Planning Division Chairman Charles Auwosuga emphasised the importance of quality construction to ensure safer buildings in Honiara.
He said this was the first-ever training programme for local building contractors on Reinforced Concrete and Reinforcement Work.
Cr Auwosuga, during the closing ceremony, highlighted that the initiative aligns with HCC’s commitment to capacity building and infrastructure development.
He thanked the local building contractors for availing themselves to be part of the training programme.
Meanwhile, City Clerk Justus Denni, at the opening of the training programme on Tuesday, highlighted the importance of such programme.
Mr Denni said he believes such training would enhance the capacity-building insights of local building contractors.
Participants expressed appreciation for the training, recognising its value in improving construction standards.
HCC plans to continue such training programmes to support local contractors in delivering safe and durable structures across the city.
