HONIARA City Council (HCC) will continue to support all stakeholders to make the market safer, more inclusive and provide literacy training for vendors.
That’s according to the Honiara City Council Deputy Clerk Fred Jones who was the guest of honour during the graduation ceremony hosted by UNDP for the Honiara Vendors yesterday at the Saint Barnabas Cathedral Compound.
More than 60 market vendors both male and females were awarded with certificates after completing the trainings offered by UNDP.
“HCC will continue to support the stakeholders to make the market safer more inclusive and non-discriminatory through leadership, communication, organisation and financial literacy training for vendors,” Mr Jones said.
He added that HCC has approved a room for BSP to operate and provide access banking services for the vendors and other users at the market.
HCC will continue to provide an important urban space for thousands of small business people to both urban and rural communities to trade as market vendors.
