Honiara City Council (HCC) has praised the National Government, State Own Enterprises (SOEs), None Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Churches and communities within the city for the massive turnout over the weekend to clean up the city, preparing the city safe and beautiful for the games and beyond.
The Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor Councillor Edward Siapu was pleased with the massive turnout to clean up the city over the weekend on Saturday 4th of March, 2023.
He highlights that it’s a good sign of showcasing that the Honiara occupants are collaborating well with the responsible authorities.
“This is a good start and we will continue to clean up the city until November, 2023, when the Pacific Games kicks off, and beyond,” City Mayor Siapu explained.
HCC Lord Mayor had strongly appealed to all Honiara residents to continue to work closely with the Honiara City Council (HCC) to prepare the city safe and clean for the games and beyond.
“Honiara City is our city and we as sons and daughters of Solomon Islands, we have to take ownership over our city and as well as preparing our city for the Pacific Games (PGs). We live in this City or visit this City. Let us love and own this City, thus keeping it clean, beautiful and safe,” City Mayor expressed.
He uttered that the Attorney General’s (AG) office will be working on reviewing spot fines and littering penalties for those breaching HCC ordinances.
