LIFE of the Honiara City Council’s (HCC) current political administration will come to its end Monday next week.
That’s according to the council’s legal adviser Vincent Kohata.
Mr Kohata said the decision to dissolve the political administration headed by mayor Andrew Mua on 17 December was based on advice they received from the Attorney General’s office.
He added the council will be administered by the city clerk when the mayor and the councillors’ term lapse.
Mr Kohata said the Ministry of Home Affairs will decide on a date for the election of new councillors.
Meanwhile, a spokesman from the Ministry of Provincial Government & Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS) told the Solomon Star the AG did not get back to them on their submission regarding dissolution of the seven provincial governments.
He said consultation on that matter continues and they expect any feedback from the AG next week.
The spokesman also clarified that the HCC operates under a different Act and comes under the Home Affairs ministry.
