The Member of Parliament (MP) for Lau/Mbaelelea Ben Maenu has been commended for assisting his constituency with a new ambulance.
The ambulance is the first ever to be donated by a MP to a particular constituency and will serve Area Health Centers and Clinics in and around Lau/Mbaelelea constituency, transporting sick patients to and from communities to the nearest health facility and also to Kilufii hospital in Auki.
Speaking highly of the initiative, the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Paul Popora Bosawai has commended the MP for for his foresight and generosity to assisting health services in his constituency.
“The MP for Lau/Mbaelelea must be commended for purchasing and delivering an ambulance for his constituency.
“He is not only boosting health services in his constituency but is setting a fine example for all of parliamentarians including myself to assist and boost health care in our respective constituencies with such initiatives using the Constituency Development Fund.
“In the face of limited resources, we all need to support each other, providing the necessary resources that are required on the ground to enhance and improve health services delivery.
“My Ministry would like to acknowledge MP Maenu’s efforts to improve health services in his constituency and we look forward to working closely with him and all other Parliament Members to bolster health care in their respective constituencies in whatever form of support they may be. A great initiative and a great example indeed,” said Minister Bosawai.
