HEAVY SHOWERS are expected in parts of the country the weather office has advised yesterday.
This is due to a trough that is moving westward.
In a weather advise number one (1) the office said heavy rain alert issued by the Solomon Islands Meteorological Service at 5 pm yesterday evening revealed that a heavy rain alert is in force for Malaita, Guadalcanal, Central, Rennell & Bellona, Choiseul, Western, Isabel and Makira provinces.
“A westward moving trough lies over the Solomon Islands whilst a general easterly trade wind flow persists south of trough.”
The advice said associated cloud with rain is expected to affect the Solomon Islands within the next 24 to 48 hours.
Such localised heavy rain may lead to flash flooding over communities living close to large rivers, streams and low lying areas.
