Public Transport Bus commuters in Henderson have described the bus service from Henderson in Central Guadalcanal to Honiara as a ‘worst case scenario.’
The frustrated commuters said they have to spend long hours waiting to catch a bus to Honiara.
Solomon Star has observed that it has been a number of weeks now since the issue of commuters waiting for long to get on a Honiara-bound worsened.
The major contributing factor as observed is the current road upgrade from the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport (SINIS) to the Honiara International Airport. The road upgrade works have forced most buses that have been operating along Honiara City Council- Henderson bus route to leave to serve other routes.
The situation has caused some commuters in the Henderson area to walk from the bus stop there to the Lunga bus stop in the hope that the bus availability situation is not as bad.
Students and employees of the government, Non-Government Organisation (NGO), private sectors and market vendors residing from Lunga and eastward to Henderson and beyond are badly affected by the situation.
They are hoping that the road upgrade works from the stretch of road from SINIS to the Honiara International Airport will be completed soon so that buses that have been public transport services along the HCC-Henderson route will serve the route again.
