The HFA 2017 Under 19 School draws took place on Tuesday afternoon at the SIFF Conference room after 17 secondary schools have registered and confirmed their participation.
The new schools that have come in which have not participated in the current under 16 school league include Nguvia CHS from the Guadalcanal plains, ST Joseph Tenaru, Bishop Epale CHS, White River CHS, Honiara High School, Koloale CHS and Mbokonavera CHS.
Schools that are currently participating in the Under 16 School league and has also confirmed to participate in the Under 19 School League include: KG School, Burns Creek CHS, Naha CHS, Panatina CHS, Vura CHS, Mbua Valley CHS, Florence Young Christian School, Mbokona CHS, St John CHS and Numbu CHS also from the Guadalcanal plains.
The 17 participating schools are drawn into two pools. Pool A consist of Naha, Panatina, Tenaru, St John, Mbokona, Vura, Burns Creek, Numbu and Mbokonavera while Pool B, include host KG School, Bishop Epale, Florence Young, Mbua Valley, Honiara High School, Nguvia, White River and Koloale.
Each pool will play a round robin system and at the end of pool matches, the top four teams from each pool will automatically qualify for quarter finals which are expected to take place in late September this year. All participating school teams are looking forward to the kick off and we are expecting a very competitive competition between the 17 schools.
In the meantime, the Under 16 School league semi-finals have been scheduled to take place this Wednesday 24th May when Numbu CHS takes on KG School at 3.30pm at KG South field and Florence Young Challenges Mbua Valley CHS also at 3.30pm at KG North field. The Grand Final is expected to take place on Wednesday 31st May next week.
