THE matter of the man accused of raping his 14-year-old nephew in June this year has been committed to stand trial in the High Court.
This was after the presiding magistrate found sufficient evidence to sustain the charge of Rape against the defendant to be tried in the High Court.
Having found strong evidences from the statements of the alleged victims and other witnesses, the admission in the defendant’s Record of Interview (ROI), medical report and photographs, the magistrate committed the matter to the High Court.
The defendant will appear before the High Court on October 25.
He was charged for allegedly raping his 14-year-old nephew on 16 June this year in Honiara.
Delilah Kukura of Public Solicitor’s Office represents the defendant, whilst Public Prosecutor Georgina Oroi is prosecuting.
