A New Zealand Offshore Patrol vessel HMNZS Wellington will berth at Point Cruz this week ahead of a series of commemorations across the Solomon Islands this week.
A statement from the New Zealand Embassy said, during this time groups of sailors will be supporting a number of civic activities across Honiara coordinated via New Zealand Aid Programme-funded support to Honiara City Council (the Honiara Economic Development Support Programme; or HEDSUP).
These activities include painting and basic repairs at the HCC Multipurpose Hall from today – 18th and 19th August, Rove Health Clinic on Tuesday 18th August, Mataniko Health Clinic on 19th August), and Mbonavera health clinic on 20th August.
All work is expected to start by 9.30am each day. Organised sports events are also expected to be held on at the Multipurpose Hall on the afternoon of Wednesday – 19th August from 3pm.
