The Solomon National Hockey squads will kick off their campaign for the World Hockey League round one in Suva, Fiji this morning.
Hockey president Nihal Senevirantne said our national squads has settled down well and are prepared for their opening matches today.
“After our arrival on Saturday both teams settled down well and are looking forward our first matches tomorrow (today),’’ he said.
The men’s team will take on PNG for their opening match at 9: 45 am followed by Fiji in the afternoon 15: 25 pm.
While the women’s squad will take host side Fiji at 10:30am before taking on Tonga at 13:30 this afternoon.
Prior to their departure both teams’ coaches also told Star Sports that they are confident to achieve better results in the competition.
Winners of the World League Round One will progress to Round Two.
The format of play for this World League Round 1 is hockey 5’s.
The countries participating in the Hockey World League round one are Fiji, PNG, Tonga, Vanuatu and Solomon Islands.
