THE Solomon Islands national men and women’s hockey teams will be flying the country’s flag in Fiji again after 37 years.
President of the Solomon Islands Hockey Federation Nihal Seneviratne said Hockey Solomons will be visiting Fiji again after 37 years since Solomon Islands last played a hockey match there during the South Pacific Games in 1979.
“Solomon Islands national hockey men and women’s teams will be participating at the World Hockey League Round One ,’’ Seneviratne told Star Sports.
He said the Hockey 5s league is set for SUVA, FIJI from 27th June to 2nd July 2016.
“Winners will be invited to attend Hockey World Round League 2.
“It will be Hockey 11s, for women set for Malaysia from 14-22 Jan 2017,while the men’s league will be hosted in Bagaladesh from 2-12 may 2017,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, President Senviratne said our national squad are currently training every Tuesdays & Thursdays at the KG VI School Hockey Ground.
