POLICE in Guadalcanal Province are investigating an incident at Aola in East Central Guadalcanal, believed to be linked to sorcery, which resulted in the burning of five residential houses and a death of an elderly man.
The burning incident took place on Tuesday night when some men appeared at the village in revenge of a death of a woman in their village early this month, whom they believed was killed by an evil spirit.
Police at Henderson have confirmed the burning down of the five residential houses built with sago palm leaves.
They have now deployed some of their offices to the site to carryout investigation in relation to the matter.
As of yesterday, no arrest has been reported.
Police is calling on members of the communities in and around Aola to remain calm as the incident was now a police case.
