THE Coalition block based at the Honiara Hotel led by Prime Minister Candidate Hon. Manasseh Sogavare remains intact with 27 MP’s (Members of Parliament) still present there.
This was following unconfirmed reports from the opposite camp that some of the Honiara Hotel camp members have decided to move to the Mendana Hotel, following Mr Sogavare’s nomination for the Prime Ministerial portfolio.
The reports claimed that some members of both the United Democratic Party (UDP) and Kadere Party are the ones planning to change sides after their candidate for the Prime Minister was eliminated, following elimination rounds conducted at Honiara Hotel on Tuesday night.
Reports also claimed that already dialogues have taken place between the Solomon Islands People’s Democratic Coalition (SIPDC) and the MPs planning to change camps.
However, an insider at the Honiara Hotel camp said that so far the newly formed Coalition block remained intact with 27 MP’s.
“No one has left us, all 27 MP’s are here at Honiara Hotel and are continuing to support our candidate for Prime Minister, Mr Manasseh Sogavare,” he said.
He added that they are expecting an increase in their numbers before the Prime Minister’s election next week.
“The number may even rise up to 30 before the Prime Minister’s election next week,” he said.
