THREE former Members of Parliament (MP) for the Honiara constituencies are leading the election race at the close of counting yesterday evening.
Former West Honiara MP Namson Tran is leading the count after eight ballot boxes from all White River and Ngossi ballot boxes.
His closest rivals are, Issac Inoke, Moffat Konofilia and Julie Gegeo.
In Central Honiara former MP Moffat Fugui is also leading the count after 5 ballot boxes for polling stations at the Girl Guides, All Saints and Honiara city council.
Former councillor Jack Igi is chasing Fugui on the second place followed by female candidate Vicky Lusibaea , Jonathan Zama and Frank Aote’e respectively.
Whilst for East Honiara constituency, Douglas Ete is also leading the race after eight ballot boxes.
This was followed by Ryley Misepitu, John Kabolo, Paul Maenu and Benard Ghiro.
However the third and fourth ballot boxes were not counted after it was discovered they were not properly shield.
Therefore the Returning Officer (RO) decides to skip the two boxes to other polling stations instead.
Counting will resume this morning and results are expected to be declared by this afternoon.
