HOPES are high amongst managers and members of the Under 16 soccer team that left yesterday for American Samoa.
The team are taking part in the Oceania Under 17 Competition which starts January 13.
Coach Jacob Moli left a message to parents, fans, sponsors and the country that the team are going there to perform to expectations.
“People at home expect more, and we are determined to produce more.”
Captain Junior Hou said before departure yesterday they look forward to taking on Tonga in the opening match on Tuesday next week.
Solomon Islands National under 16 soccer team captain Junior Hou is very confident to lead his boy in the opening match against Tonga next week.
“I am sure it will be an easy game but we are taught not to take games lightly and we are going to prove that in the opening match.”
The young X-Beam player admitted that many of the young player were never exposed to such regional competition but they are confident with the kind of training and preparation they have undertaken at home.
Solomon Island is pooled with the host America Samoa, Tahiti, Vanuatu and Tonga.
Their first game will be against Tonga, second game against Vanuatu, third game against Tahiti and the host America Samoa.
