Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare is no longer the national manager of the country that he used to be, says Small Malaita Member of Parliament Ricky Hou.
The former Finance Minister made this statement after seeing Mr Sogavare’s seven months in leadership had fall short of people’s expectation.
He said, the Prime Minister knows the economy of the country very well and he knows what to do to make this county move forward and achieve prosperity, but then he just failed to act to make it happen.
With that Mr. Hou said, Mr. Sogavare knows what to do with officials and Ministers that don’t follow the policy intentions, adding, they should be removed to make way for those that can follow policy intentions to replace them.
“But the question here now is that why he failed to do the things that he was supposed to do to rescue the country,” Mr. Hou asked.
Mr. Hou said, the current behavior of the government to keep on accepting officials and Ministers who serve with self-interest in the government without terminating them is very obvious that Mr. Sogavare has lost control of his ministers and some key officials in his government.
He said the current behavior of the Prime Minister has shown to the people of Solomon Islands that he is not giving directions as the Prime Minister of the country which shows that he is not in charge of the government.
“The current behavior of the government has shown that Mr. Sogavare is not the firm Prime Minister that we used to know and he is not the decisive Prime Minister that we used to know,” he said.
He said, Mr Sogavare always make good national decisions in the past and that is how he established his national trust, but the way he keeps silent about corrupt practices that is currently taking place under his leadership without taking any action shows that he is not in control of the current government.
