TWO permanent houses and a number of newly built dugout canoes were destroyed at Raro village near Nusa Hope in New Georgia, Western Province.
The incident took place Tuesday this week when renewed feud erupted between two rival parties that separated from a Church in New Georgia.
Solomon Star Gizo was told that several families fled to another settlement called Kuriti on Tuesday and Wednesday, when members of the other party launched the attack.
“The boats were torched using petrol.
“No reports of injuries,” a report from a resident who lives near Raro village said.
It was understood that this is the second incident to have happened at Raro.
“I can confirm that these are the same people that are involved in the last incident,” the man said.
Solomon Star also understands that this feud arised more than 10 years ago.
Reports have surfaced that there is a tension between believers of the Church on who they should follow after the founder of the movement died.
Meanwhile, officers from the Gizo Police station were deployed to Raro village on Independence Day, to monitor the situation.
