THE pre-trial conference on the case of the former provincial police commander of Guadalcanal Daniel Hunikera has been further adjourned to tomorrow.
The court heard that the pre-trial conference documents were already sent to the defence counsel and he is yet to make a response.
The hearing was supposed to take place yesterday but since the defence is yet to make a reply, the matter was further adjourned to allow that to happen.
George Gray of Public Solicitor’s Office, who represented Hunikera, is on leave and his colleague Ben Alasia appeared on his behalf.
Hunikera had earlier pleaded not guilty to charges of driving or being in charge when under the influence of drinks or drugs and another of careless & inconsiderate driving.
These were in relation to an incident at Alligator Creek in east Honiaraon 14 February 2015.
He allegedly crashed the government vehicle during an early morning ride.
It was alleged he was drinking at that time.
The expensive government vehicle was badly damaged when it veered off the road and crashed into the nearby bush.
That vehicle was allocated to and garaged by Hunikera.
