After more than a month on the run, police are still asking for communities’ assistance to help them locate the two remaining escapees, Frank Firimolea and Dilo Faiga.
Speaking to reporters at the commissioner’s weekly conference Thursday, Acting Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said “Operation Hunt-Man” is continuing to roll.
“Police are working very hard to recapture two remaining escapees,” Mr Mangau said.
He said police are also continuing to work closely with communities but without community participation, they are finding difficulties recapture the two escapees.
“Police are urging the public participation and assistance to provide information on whereabouts of two escapees,” he added.
Mr Mangau said as community police they are concern about public safety and urged public assistance in supporting them with information to make police work easier to re-locate two escapees.
Frank Firimolea, Dilo Faiga and Willie Olo have escaped from the Rove Correctional Centre on 15 December 2019.
Olo who is a convicted prisoner was recaptured in the LDA area behind Betikama , east of Honiara between 4am and 5am on January 5.
He is now back in prison, leaving Firimolea and Faiga who are both facing separate armed robbery charges still at large.
Olo who is serving a three-year jail term for an armed robbery incident that happened in Honiara last August is now also facing a fresh charge of escaping lawful custody.
