SOLOMON Islands U19 defender and the former Real Kakamora centre back, Gordon Iro is staying with the Telekom Super League (TSL) defending champions Central Coast FC.
Despite many rumours on social media claim that he has sealed a contract with BA FC for the 2025 Fiji National league, Iro confirmed to Star Sport in an interview on Tuesday said he is staying with Central Coast FC.
Iro said the Fijian football club (BA FC) have done few negotiations with him in the past weeks to sign him up, but he decided to turn down their offer.
“I have turned down the offer from BA FC as I decided to join Central Coast FC for the OFC Men’s Champions League which will begin next month and for the upcoming TSL season,” Iro said.
“My decision to join Central Coast is for me to gain experience in OFC Champions League and it’s good to play alongside few of our national players who also joined the club for the purpose of learning new things from them.
“After weeks of preparation with the club, I can’t wait for my first OFC Men’s Champions League debut with the team. Yes, I’m looking forward for that, as well as the new TSL season,” he added.
Iro is undergoing intensive training with Central Coast FC for the OFC Men’s Champions League, which will be hosted in Honiara from March 29 to April 13.
