THE importance of education to ensuring a successful future was highlighted at the 2023 Koloale Community High School (KCHS) graduation last Thursday.
KCHS is situated in Central Honiara and falls under the jurisdiction of the Honiara City Council (HCC) Education Authourity.
Speaking on the theme, “Education shape and Equips the future,’’ School Principal Simon Tepuke said education is crucial for successful future as it helps children explore and utilise their potential.
Mr Tepuke said learning supports overall growth and equips individuals to deal with various aspect of life.
“The purpose of education is to cultivate heathy thought processes develop cognitive abilities and impacts necessary skills.
“In today’s competitive world education is essential for human beings along with food clothing and shelter educations can received at home, schools and in the community.
“Schools play a significant role in imparting knowledge to children in any country, including Solomon Islands.”
Principal Tepuke said the educations landscape is changing due to some various factors such as a climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic and the use of artificial intelligence to keep up with a rapidly changing world.
As such, he said quality education is necessary to equip children to be future-ready and become good citizens
Mr Tepuke said education is no longer limited to knowing or learning known things. It’s about exploring, creating, testing and re-learning its purpose is to empower individuals to navigate through complex and volatile situations.
“Success in education is about developing identity, agency, values, curiosity, and mobilising cognitive, social and emotional resources,” Principal Tepuke added.
“Educations builds the foundations of society at large. it opens up many opportunities to explore, grow and enhance living, along with freedom, mine and body. the future of our nation depends on the quality of education being provided to children.”
As is the purpose of any school graduation ceremony, the Koloale Community High School 2023 Graduation included the awarding of prizes to deserving students and certificates to all its Forms 3, 5, 6 and 7 students.
