THE Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD), Dr Franco Rodie says that the recent historic discoveries in Guadalcanal are impressive.
He made the statement when speaking at a media event in Honiara yesterday to announce a number of discoveries being made following a two weeks expedition survey at the highlands of Guadalcanal..
Dr Rodie said as a scientist himself, he is delighted to note the existence of a number of unique flora and fauna’s during the latest discovery of both local and international scientists that were part of a two weeks expedition at the highlands of Guadalcanal.
“We need to take care of such life forms from any human activities,” he said.
He added that, if such expedition is conducted continuously, science will be useful to students.
“If we continue to do more research and taking more photographs, science will become meaningful.
“Students will be able to see what they are being taught in the classrooms,” Dr Rodie added.
He said the Uluna-Sutahuri tribe is an inspiration to the expedition.
