Man to plea for raping babies
THE man accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with his four daughters age ranges between two years old and two months old from 2017 to July this year in Western Province will plea to the allegations on September 23.
The 36 year-old man who cannot be named to protect his daughter’s identities will be pleading to the charges of sexual intercourse with a child under 15.
This matter was last mentioned in the Gizo Magistrate’s Court on September 9 and was further adjourned for plea and possible committal hearing on the next date.
The accused is facing charges relating to allegations between 1 January 2017 and 31 July 2021.
Prosecution alleged the accused had unlawful sexual intercourse with his step daughter and three biological daughters when they were only two years old, one year and 11 months and two months old.
The first alleged incident happened in January 2017 where the suspect allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with his two year-old step-daughter at their home village.
The mother was said to be away at the hospital to give birth to their second born child.
The second incident occurred on the 10 January 2019 in which the suspect allegedly had sexual intercourse with his second born daughter at their home village while her mother and third born daughter was away from home.
The victim was also only two years old at that time.
The third incident happened on two different dates in July this year where the suspect had sex with his third and fourth child.
The two victims were aged one year and 11 months and two months old.
The mother was at that time in their kitchen busy preparing food.
It was alleged the accused threatened to kill his wife and the four children if his wife reported the matter to the police.”
The mother of the victims, however, went and lodged her complaint to the Munda Police Station which saw the arrest of the suspect on 9 August this year.
Man gets 5 yrs in jail for incest, intimidation
A 47 year-old man has been sentenced to a total of five years after he confesses to charges of incest and intimidation.
Justice Leonard Maina delivered this sentence during a court circuit last week in Kirakira, Makira/Ulawa Province.
The accused was sentenced after pleading guilty to three counts of incest and one count of intimidation.
The court had heard he had sexual intercourse with his 21 year-old daughter between 1 January 2019 and December 2019 at their village in Makira.
On the first incest incident, the accused had sexual intercourse with his daughter at their bush garden after he threatened her to follow him there.
The second incest offence also occurred at their bush garden while the third occurred at their family home.
The intimidation charge also occurred at their family home.
It was heard that at 2am the defendant went and sexually assaulted the victim.
The victim, however, shouted for her sister and ended up waking everyone inside their house.
The defendant left and pretended to be a sleep.
When the victim went back to sleep, the defendant returned and held a stick against her body and tore her shirt.
Justice Maina had imposed one year jail term for the intimidation charge and five years for the incest charges.
He then ordered the sentences to run concurrently resulting in a total sentence of five years imprisonment.
Land fraud case for sentence
Principal Magistrate Fatima Taeburi will be delivering her sentence on the case of the former Lands Surveyor who fraudulently transferred a land title to this name in 2018 today.
The sentence of Francis Kennedy is listed for 9.30am this morning.
Kennedy had pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery of certain documents with intent to defraud.
He was working as an assistant surveyor in the Ministry of Lands in 2018 when he committed the offence.
On 9 January 2018, he forged the signatures of the holders of a Perpetual Estate (PE) on a parcel land as Transferor and Transferee in the Ministry of Lands transfer instrument.
He then registered himself as the holder of the PE of the parcel of land at Aola in Guadalcanal.
Kennedy was sacked from the public service as a result of the incident.
He was arrested and charged in February this year.
The court had heard during the mitigation and sentencing submissions on a previous court date that kenedy had already transferred the land title back to its initial owner.
