Leader of the Independent group Manasseh Maelanga has urged the public that they are closely monitoring the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) government, to ensure they implement their policies.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, Member of Parliament (MP) for East Kwara’ae Manasseh Maelanga told the Solomon Star that the current pressure on the DCC government over some of their controversial decisions were not really a matter of interest to them.
“What we want the DCC to do now is to make sure that every decision they make, which stirred public anger must be done properly,” Maelanga said. “If things done by DCC is not straight in the eyes of the public and our laws we want them to do it properly,” he further stated.
The independent leader was responding to the recent decision by the Public Entitlement Commission (PEC) and the granting of a short-term export permit for PT Mega Bing Tang Borneo to ship its harvested bauxite currently piled up in ward three, Central Rennell, Renbell Province.
Maelanga continues his remarks by saying that their views goes in line with what the opposition group has released recently.
“What we are more concern about is for the government to focus more on its development plans and prioritise their policies,” he said. “We are more focus on development projects that the government has promised for the provinces,” he added. “Big projects such as those of Malaita are what really matters to us,” he further added.
He said that they remain supportive towards the government, provided that government is doing the right thing according to our laws, and most importantly according to the interest of the people.
Moreover, he said that a media release from the independent group will send to the media soon clarifying their positions towards the running of the government.
