The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade is pleased to announce that His Excellency Mr Inbasekar Sundaramurthi’s five days visit to Solomon Islands was significantly a success with the High Commissioner having paid a courtesy call to the Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Honourable Peter Shanel Agovaka and to the Prime Minister, Honourable Manasseh D. Sogavare, on Monday 20th June 2022, following his presentation of letter of Credential to the Acting Governor General, His Excellency, Mr Patterson Oti.
His Excellency Mr Inbasekar Sundaramurthi’s, also hold several successive meetings with the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, Ministry of Commerce Industries Labour and Immigration, Ministry of Forestry and Research, Ministry of Agriculture Livestock Development, Ministry of Education Human Resource Development and representatives of Solomon Islands National University, during his short stay in country, while deliberating on matters of mutual interest and possibilities to enhance India and Solomon Islands bilateral cooperation. The High Commissioner further reiterated during the meetings that the Indian Governments’ key priority is to focus on capacity building of human resource development for partners like Solomon Islands.
Thus, to solidify the bilateral engagement and promote more people to people exchanges between India and Solomon Islands, the visiting High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr Inbasekar Sundaramurthi and the Supervising Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs and External Trade Dr. Jimmie Rodgers, yesterday signed the Agreement on Exemption from Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports between India and Solomon Islands.
Solomon Islands Government recognizes the strength and potential that India can bring to prosperously enhance the SI-India bilateral relations and stands ready and committed to work with the Indian Government on matters of mutual interest and solidarity.
