India’s High Commissioner to Solomon Islands, Shri Inbasekar Sunaramuthi, paid a final courtesy call on Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele this week as he prepares to leave for his new posting on August 15th.
During the interim, First Secretary Ravindra Nath will serve as the Acting High Commissioner.
In his farewell meeting, Mr. Sunaramuthi expressed his gratitude for the cordial working relationship between his office and the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC).
“It has been an honor to serve here,” HE Sunaramuthi remarked.
As he departs from his role, HE Sunaramuthi highlighted that several areas of cooperation between India and Solomon Islands are set to come to fruition next year. Among these is the Jaipur Foot Camp project, which will introduce artificial limbs to those who have lost their legs and arms.
Additionally, cooperation in establishing a desalination plant to assist in water treatment is also underway.
HE Sunaramuthi further noted that sea ambulances would be supplied as part of ongoing support.
HE Sunaramuthi emphasized the importance of Prime Minister Manele visiting India, stating that such a visit would further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
In response, Prime Minister Manele spoke highly of HE Sunaramuthi, acknowledging his dedication and energetic work ethic in realizing the outcomes of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC).
He also commended HE Sunaramuthi for his involvement in establishing the Center of Excellence for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU).
Prime Minister Manele paid tribute to HE Sunaramuthi’s tireless efforts in ensuring the timely provision of 20 Tata buses for the 2023 Pacific Games.
He expressed that the bilateral relationship between India and Solomon Islands has grown stronger under HE Sunaramuthi’s exceptional leadership.
PM Manele also recognized India’s leadership at both bilateral and regional levels, expressing his best wishes to HE Sunaramuthi as he embarks on his new assignment in Europe.
