Lobbying for the election a new Premier and speaker in the newly elected 20 member assembly in Makira Ulawa province is said to be intensifying at the provincial capital Kira Kira.
Nominations for both positions opened last Thursday.
Nominations for the provincial speaker’s post closed 4pm yesterday afternoon with 6 candidates nominated.
They are: James Tora, former MP; Reginald Nunu, Gad Hagasuramo, Golden Kaea, Jackson Sunaone and Fr.Dickson Agusi.
Election for the speaker will take place this Monday at Kira Kira.
In the meantime political lobbying is in full swing for the prestigious post of Premier.
Acting Provincial Secretary Silas Sitai said so five candidates have been nominated so far since nominations opened last Thursday.
List of Candidates for the Premiership post so far is as follows:
