THE seafarers in the country are joining the rest of the world to celebrate the International Day of the Seafarers in Honiara today.
This is an important occasion, therefore, the Solomon Islands Marine Shipping Industry together with the Solomon Islands National Maritime School will celebrate the day today.
The event started with a morning parade from Kukum Campus field to the Solomon Islands National University Ranadi Campus Maritime School in East Honiara.
The grand program will be staged at the Ranadi Campus.
The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force Brass Band led the parade.
International Day of Seafarers falls on 25th June annually, however seafarers in the country are marking the day on Monday, 26th of June.
It is an exciting event because it is the first time for the country to celebrate the day.
