Honiara businessman David Iro says he has acquired a water filtration machine which he hopes to use to supply safe and clean drinking water to residents of Lungga, east Honiara.
Iro, whose business was headquartered at Lungga, said he had tried his new machine to filter water from the nearby Lungga river and had proven it to be working well.
“Water from the river that we filtered it using the machine was clean and safe for human consumption,” Iro said.
He said the machine, called Skyhydrant Auto Filtration Unit, was designed for community water supply projects.
“I purchased the machine from overseas because here in the Lungga area, the city water supply was unreliable and unsafe for us to drink.
“It has been something that I have been thinking about for a while to help the many people who live in the Lungga area and who have no access to clean drinking water.
“We have the Lungga river, but as you know, we cannot drink from it because it was polluted.
“So this machine will help solve our problem,” he said.
Iro said now that he has a machine to filter and purify water, he hopes to assist the residents of Lungga with clean drinking water.
He added he also hopes to assist supply schools with clean drinking water.
Iro said the machine can produce 10,000 litres (2,000 gallons) of clean water per day which equivalent to 2000 Gallon of water a day.
