THE new norm of sections of the Kukum Highway turning into a sea of litre is a national embarrassment that demands urgent attention of responsible authorities.
This embarrassing state of affair has become a new norm for Honiara residents since nothing was done to address over the years.
During heavy downpour and flood, the road sections in front of the Kwaimani Building heading up to the Fishing Village Plaza and in front of the Bishop Brothers building at Ranadi are inundated with flood waters that wash down massive debris dumped into drains by residents of the city.
The question is: Has the Honiara City Council (HCC) or the Ministry responsible ever considered this issue as an urgent matter that it must address? Or has it become a new norm?
This issue has often sparked criticisms in the social media as people tend to make fun of it when the weather seems to be bad.
Many people have also criticised the media, saying that these are the main issues that they should be barking about and not some minor issues that are not of public interest.
This issue is a crucial one that the responsible authorities should not overlook. It must take urgent actions needs to address head-on.
