ISABEL national and provincial government leaders have acknowledged and congratulated the Isabel contingent that participated in the recent Solomon Games in Honiara.
As part of showing their appreciation the leaders hosted a dinner for the team at the Heritage Park Hotel over the weekend.
The highlight for Team Isabel is the result from Isabel Frigates which snatched silver in football which created history for the province. They lost to Real Kakamora.
Most of the other athletes have also been acknowledged for their participation during the dinner.
“Its a history and pride to see our rural boys and girls from Isabel who come here and show their talents and skills and be able to produce some good results,” Member of Parliament for Gao/Bugotu constituency Samuel Manetoali said at the dinner.
He said all Isabel athletes demonstrated high level of participation during the event.
“Your participation gives pride and joy as a province.”
He urged the athletes to train hard for future events.
Manetoali also highlighted that sport unites every one and can bring peace.
In the medal tally Isabel won total of 50 medals which includes 15 gold medals,18 silver medals and 17 bronze medals.
The province sits in the 6th position ahead of Renbel 7th, Makira/Ulawa 8th, Western province 9th and Temotu province 10th.
