LEADERS from Isabel province are determined to work together to develop their province.
A cross section of leaders which included Parliamentary and Provincial representatives, chiefs, church and other community leaders made the undertaking during their recent meeting held at the provincial capital Buala.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, Provincial Premier, James Habu said the meeting of leaders from Isabel province was seen as an initial starting point where they shared and exchanged ideas on how to bring about development to Isabel Province.
He said two key areas focused on during the meeting were infrastructure and economic development.
Premier Habu said the leaders agreed that in order for economic development to succeed, the province needs to build a network of infrastructure first.
He said good roads, health, educational and communication facilities must be build to provide conducive environment for economic development.
He said since health of the population is a pre-requisite to a healthy and energetic work force, the leaders want to see priority focus on ensuring the Provincial hospital at Buala is well equipped with staff and life saving machines.
Premier Habu said the leaders urged government to equip the hospital with an ex-ray machine being fully aware of the fact the hospital has been operating without one for the last seven years.
While thanking the leaders for their tolerance and concern for the advancement of their province, he encourages the leaders to fully cooperate with his provincial government bring about improvement to the lives of their people.
