REACHING the semi finals is not just a great achievement for the Central Islands football team but also it is history.
Central Islands has never reached the grand finals of the Solomon Cup tournament since its inception in 1991.
Reaching the grand finals is history for the Shields and also defeating Western Turtles is another history.
Speaking to local media after their successful semi final against Western Turtles, Shields coach, Tome Kiki was impressed that he has led his team to create history.
“I’m happy to be part of this history.
“We have reached the grand finals and have defeated Western Turtles.
“My players understand that this is history and we are aiming to create another history by winning the Solomon Cup title.
“It will be tough but we have made it through a tough road and we are more determined to finish off on a high,” he said.
Shields had to make a strong come back in the tournament to reach the semi finals and now the grand final.
The determination to strive for the best has helped the Shields cruise past well known tough contenders like Western Turtles and Honiara.
They will take on Malaita Eagles in the grand final on Saturday.
