Jerol Patty Eremae is impressed for the opportunity to join the Solomon Islands Kurukuru national futsal team for the three friendly matches in Australia.
The 16-year-old has been named in the final Kurukuru 14 man squad selected by Head Coach Damon Shaw that will be playing three international friendly matches with the Australia Futsalroos.
Jerol who hails from Makokoa’a village in North Malaita was first introduced to the five-aside futsal code with the SALT in 2019 after being inspired by his futsal icon, Calvin Do’oro who was also named in the squad for the upcoming friendlies in Australia.
Patty told Star Sports that being called up for the Kurukuru team is a dream come true.
“I am very happy to be called up for national duty, it’s a dream come true for me because my aim is to be in the Solomon island Kurukuru team one day.
“I’m looking forward to perform to my best during the friendlies,” Patty said.
Kurukuru coach Damon Shaw said Jerol caught his eyes in the first week of SIFF Super League.
“Every week I kept watching him and I assess the players.
“I don’t just watch them. I score them. I gave them assessments. I give them scores. And Jerol is scoring higher or as high as some Kurukuru players, so lam more than happy to give him the opportunity.
“He’s earned this opportunity, really good kid, really fantastic ability, of course inexperience but you know when we expose him now I am sure with the right attitude and right work rate he can be a Kurukuru player for long time,” Coach Shaw said.
The Kurukuru team left the country yesterday to Australia.
