KURUKURU Captain Elliot Ragomo says the job of defending the title is not yet done after their second win, Tuesday.
The reigning OFC Futsal champions won their second match comfortably with a 5-1 win over New Caledonia at the Vodafone Arena last night in Suva.
There are three games left to play and Ragomo said after the win over New Caledonia the job is not done yet.
When asked after the match, Ragomo said “we are here to qualify for the world cup and the job is not done yet.
“We all know the coach has a strategy and when he calls upon a player to play each player has to deliver.
“We have three more important games remaining”, he said.
Kurukuru Brazilian tactician Juliano Schmeling echoed similar statements after the game.
“I am very happy with the players because we played with all 13 outfield players except the reserve goal keeper.
“The only thing I am concern off is in the first half we gave away lots of free kicks and some of the fouls were unnecessary I think”, he said.
New Caledonia coach William Bret said after the match that Solomon islands is a good team.
“The experience Solomon had have a reall show tonight (last night ) but the second half we came back and saw what we’re capable of and what we’re able to do.
“What we need to do is win our next matches and hope Solomon Islands make some mistake,” Bret said.
Solomon Islands third match are against the All Whites today.
When asked about the encounter against New Zealand, Ragomo and coach Schmeling shared the same sentiments.
“As I said after the first match, we have five finals, yesterday (Monday) was a tough game, today (Tuesday) another tough game and tomorrow (today) will treat the game as the same.
“It will be hard game against New Zealand; definitely will be ready for tomorrow,” he said.
Skipper Ragomo also shared the same statements.
“We will take each game as a final, whichever team comes our way we will play until the final whistle.
“I think the boys are prepared for the game against NZ and concentration are high to get a positive result tomorrow”, said Ragomo.
The Kurukuru captain would also like to convey his gratitude to all Solomon Islanders living in Suva.
“I think it’s a big bonus for us Solomon to have many students here in Suva.
“The support since day one have had boost our morals and the boys are really happy to see our wantoks in the stands,” he added.
Solomon Islands will play their third match against New Zealand on Wednesday.
