Members of the Subway Joeys took time out of their busy training last week to visit St. Mary’s Tanagai School, North West Guadalcanal.
As part of the PacificAusFootball visit, all members of the touring party met with members of the school’s ladies football team.
The visit was part of contributing to their (students) future development.
During the school visit the Joeys were able to meet with local female players and donated football equipment for the school’s girls football team.
At the school sports ground, players from both teams were able to interact, have a chat, did some brief exercise and training together.
The school principal and the team captain received the balls from Joeys team captain during a brief handing over ceremony.
The school administration and ladies’ football have both acknowledged the support from the visiting side.
The Subway Joeys spent about a week in Honiara to play two international friendly matches with the Solomon Islands Under 19 side as part of the preparation towards their upcoming competitions.
They played their last test match on Sunday night and will travel on to Port Vila, Vanuatu for a one match friendly clash.
