The Jorio Java Dovele Women’s Association Credit saving scheme last week was boosted after their outgoing MP made his last (livihood funds) from Former MP North Vela Lavella Mr. Milner Tozaka.
Delivering the cheque to the women’s group the wife of the former MP for North Vela Hon. Jane Tozaka current provincial member for ward 10 Irrigila in the Western province took the wheel to hand deliver the cheque of eighty thousand dollars on behalf of his husband to the women’s group president.
Mrs. Hon. Jane Tozaka told the 8 strong team members representative the former MP never forgets to support [your] women’s group and this promise now fulfills the long waited funds to assist you further in your endeavors and that you can carry forward their action plans.
Mrs. Tozaka reminded the women that the fund comes under the livihood funds under the Members of Parliament during their tenure and it is important that you in turn have to be accountable and fully utilize for its intended purposes.
Mrs. Jane Tozak pointed out that the scheme can start them to be economically independent by getting into small projects such bakery, poultry, piggery, fishing and etc.
She said should women are taking a positive part in mapping out their roles as mothers and women of this nation our family’s, the community and the country as a whole will have a bright future.
President of the JJWDA Mrs. Hilder Domuo said she and the all the women members of the JJWDA are so fortunate indeed to have been accorded with the added assistance to our credit savings scheme and this donation of eighty thousand dollars is an added value for the struggling rural women and an evidence of the continuous assistance and commitment that the former MP has rendered to us since we organize and develop this women’s association from the start.
Mrs. Domuo said we started in 2012 with the membership of our women with only 78 since then we have now a total membership of 770 women and this figure represents nearly 85 percent of the women in the 5 zones within the constituency are fully aware of this association and the women are now very active in participating in our organized activities.
She said the women in our five zones can start them economically to loan against the scheme and sustain themselves. She said the growth and expansion of the JJWDA is a significant success story for women in the North vela Lavella constituency and island of Vela lavella.
The president said the donated funds will be equally distributed in the five zones and financial members of the association can utilize the credit saving scheme with their zone officers.
The former MP Mr. Milner Tozaka previously donated a 15hp OBM to the women in 2012 under the same MP Livihood funding.
The former member is known to be seeking re-election in the upcoming national general election.
