HIGH Court judge Stephen Pallaras QC says the Director of Public Prosecution’s (DPP) reply to comments he made at this week’s Family Violence workshop in Honiara has disappointed many Solomon Islanders.
In his presentation at the workshop, Justice Pallaras expressed concerns about Ronald Bei Talasasa’s frequent overseas travels, which he said had disrupted work of the judiciary.
He added it is disappointing that the chief prosecutor of the country reverts to threatening a Justice of the High Court for explaining the experiences he has had in his court.
Mr Talasasa, who was in Fiji this week, said Justice Pallaras comments were not only erroneous, but unfounded, provocative, and threatening.
He threatened to sue Justice Pallaras.
But Justice Pallaras yesterday described Mr Talasasa’s response as “hysterical” and “pathetic”.
“It is disappointing that he (Talasasa) scratches around to try to find a motive that he can attribute to me and is reduced to guessing that I am in a ‘battle to eliminate him’, that I seek to ‘take revenge’ on him.”
