A man standing a one day trial for attempted rape in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court will know his fate on August 18.
During the trial on Tuesday, prosecution called three witnesses including the alleged victim in the hearing before Acting Deputy Chief Magistrate Shepherd Lapo.
The accused, David Oigau did not call any witnesses during the defence case and had also remained silent.
Closing submissions on this case will be filed on August 12 before the judgment is handed down.
The accused allegedly tried to rape the alleged victim between 7pm and 8pm on 11 October 2014, when the alleged victim was on her way home from work.
She was walking uphill along the Tasahe road from White River when the accused allegedly followed her and grabbed her pulling her into the bushes beside the road and allegedly tried to rape her.
The accused allegedly escaped when the alleged victim’s aunty came down hill with a torch.
The alleged victim resides close to where the alleged incident occurred.
