TWO world renowned dance judges will be judging the 13 dance crews that booked themselves a place in the Battleground Solomon Islands 2017 final tomorrow.
They are Marco Andre Selorio – founder and director of World Supremacy Battlegrounds based in Sydney, Australia and Lizzie Wicks – dancer and choreographer based in Brisbane, Australia.
They will be joined by our very own dancer and choreographer Duncan Maetoloa who is a member of Hood Nation, one of Australia’s top dance crew.
The visiting judges, Mr Selorio and Ms Wicks, will arrive in Honiara on Friday.
The 13 dance crews that will be competing in the finals are Penguins, Villains, Star Scream, ThreeOneEight318, Hazzard, Nice Age, Mid-West, Lunaticz, Milk Shake, Kuzzens, Wild Card, Brotherhood and Puppetz.
A totalof 280 young talented dancers participated in the competition since it started. They are part of the 20 dance crews, 36 one-on-one bboy and 18 krumpers.
Battleground Solomon Islands 2017 organiser Simon Chottu said the inclusion of provincial based dancers from Western and Malaita provinces increased the influence of the competition at the provincial level.
Mr Chottu said the winning dance group will represent Solomon Islands at the World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB) in Sydney, October this year.
He said the winning group will be joining the winners of one-on-one bboy and krump dance at the WSB Sydney competition.
WSB is the biggest and most prestigious international street dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere where the best of the best dancers from around the world meet to showcase their skills, creativity, talent and artistry of street dancing.
